What to do

Read each question slowly. Find the instruction word, decide what action it asks for, then choose one answer only.

In IELTS, many wrong answers happen because the learner misses the instruction. The instruction helps you choose the correct answer.

Quick reminder

An instruction is the part of the task that tells you what to do. It is like a command.

  • Complete means fill in missing information.
  • Match means connect two sets of items.
  • Choose means select from the options.
  • Word limit means the number of words you can write.

Task guidance

  1. Find the instruction word.
  2. Say the meaning in simple words.
  3. Remove answers that do not match the instruction.
  4. Choose one answer.
